Position Summary:

The CNC Setter is responsible for setting up and preparing CNC machines for production runs. This role involves configuring the machine, selecting and installing tools, and ensuring the machine operates efficiently to produce parts that meet precise specifications. A deep understanding of 3-4 axis machining, technical drawings, and CNC programming is essential.

Shift : Afternoon Shift Monday to Thursday 3:00pm- 1:30am

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Set up CNC machines by selecting and installing appropriate tools, fixtures, and attachments.
  • Load raw materials into the machine, ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning.
  • Input and modify CNC programs to match specific job requirements.
  • Operate CNC machines to perform complex tasks such as milling, drilling, and cutting from multiple angles and planes.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure precision and accuracy, making real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on finished products using precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or operational issues that arise during machine set-up or production.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians for more complex repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all produced parts meet strict quality standards and specifications.
  • Document and report any defects or deviations from specifications, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production output, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in setting up and operating CNC machines.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CNC programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of CNC machine operations, including tool selection, machine calibration, and program input.
  • Understands complex datum structures, including those for large weldments.
  • Advanced work-holding for large components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues.
