Overview

The Director of Operations serves as a key leader, responsible for the strategic vision, overall management, and successful execution of our camp and extracurricular programs. This high-level position involves providing direction to department heads, shaping organizational strategy, and ensuring the growth and sustainability of our operations.

Responsibilities

Scalable Operations

  • Demonstrate experience with growth strategies, making processes more efficient and effective.
  • Implement automation strategies for efficient and accurate reporting.
  • Develop a reusable starting package, creating structured framework akin to a franchise model.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance and HR head of departments to align operations with financial
  • and human resources objectives.
  • Manage the scaling of operations during summer, overseeing a large and dynamic team.


Comprehensive Oversight

  • Oversee all operations, including camp operations, school programs, and annual events, with a focus on scalability.
  • Ensure strong logistics, planning, and organization, paying meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of program execution.


Strategic Program Leadership:

  • Develop and articulate the strategic vision for the camp and extracurricular programs.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance program quality, safety, and overall impact.
  • Leadership Excellence and Talent Development:
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills, fostering an optimistic, calm, collected, and professional environment.
  • Lead by example, particularly in terms of integrity, as the position involves working with children and managing a team.
  • Provide visionary leadership to department heads, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Direct, mentor and guide full-time permanent team and provide leadership and guidance to
  • seasonal staff.


Logistics and Financial Oversight:

  • Oversee the procurement and distribution of supplies, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance department to manage the overall budget for camp operations, maintaining financial accountability.


Data-Driven Decision-Making:

  • Utilize data analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to assess and enhance program success.


Stakeholder Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate positive relationships with parents, campers, staff, and external partners.
  • Represent the organization in negotiations with school sites and school boards.


Corporate Strategy and Best Practices:

  • Leverage a corporate background to implement industry best practices.
  • Drive organizational growth through scalable and strategic initiatives.
  • Possess strong crisis management skills, exhibiting proactive leadership in anticipating and mitigating potential challenges.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response protocols.


Board Reports Documentation and Communication:

  • ● Prepare and present monthly reports to the Board of Directors.
  • ● Communicate effectively with board members, keeping them informed of program developments.


Sales and Marketing Strategy:

  • Utilize executive-level sales experience to enhance the organization's market presence.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of marketing strategies for program growth.
  • Familiarity with Childcare Environments: Demonstrate a deep understanding of childcare environments, ensuring that all programs adhere to regulatory and safety standards.


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Child Development, or related field.
  • Extensive executive-level experience in operations management, preferably in childcare or event management. (min. 5 years)
  • Proven success in strategic planning and organizational leadership.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in crisis situations.
  • Corporate background with experience in large companies.
