About the Opportunity


Our growing company is seeking a highly skilled, energetic, reliable, and experienced Piping Analyst to join our team.


Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities


  • Piping analysis for Class 1, 2, 3 and 6 piping systems for CANDU nuclear generating stations.
  • Stress Analysis of piping systems on Caesar II, AutoPIPE, and PepS for sustained, hydrotest, operating, design and occasional load case conditions.
  • Prepare isometrics to show pipe support loads and coordinate with piping designers to change pipe routing where required to increase flexibility to reduce stress and/or nozzle loads.
  • Linear and nonlinear finite element analysis for components such as pipe fittings (elbows, tees), pipe supports (linear, plate and shell), seal plates and flued heads.
  • Fit for construction detailed piping design packages containing P&IDs, Tie in Schedules, Piping Layouts, Isometrics, Pipe Support Drawings, Piping Specifications, Material take offs and Line Lists.
  • Fitness for service assessments of piping, pipe fittings and pressure vessels to support continued operation of the station.
  • Outage support including but not limited to inspection scope of work, vibration analysis, thinning rate assessments, replacement/ice plugging analysis and fracture mechanics assessment for postulated flaws.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage a knowledge-based work unit.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability in preparing technical reports and deliverables to successful conclusion.
  • Good knowledge of CANDU nuclear power plant design and operation as well as CANDU reactor components (specifically primary heat transport, feeder, calandria).
  • Understanding of fundamental theories in continuum mechanics, mechanical vibrations, metal fatigue, fluid structure interaction and/or acoustics.
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status.
  • Experience in piping analysis codes such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, PIPESTRESS and STANPIPE.
  • In-depth knowledge of CSA N285.0, N286.7 and N289 as well as ASME Section III Subsections NB, NC, ND, NF, ASME B31.1 and ASME Section VIII.
  • Prior experience that supports ASME Section III Appendix XXIII Qualification for Design Report is considered an asset.



Please note that this is a Hybrid role from our Burlington office, however some site visits might be required to Kincardine, Ontario.



Qualifications:


  • The successful candidate will be recognized by his/her peers for professionalism, superior performance, knowledge, expertise and ability to work in a team environment with members of the Stress Analysis team. Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in Ontario is preferred, or be eligible to obtain this, within a reasonable period of time and be eligible or currently holding a nuclear site clearance.
  • Experience working with Smart Plant 3D highly preferred along with, AutoCAD, Auto Plant, Navisworks, MicroStation
  • Experience with piping and pipe support analysis software like PIPESTRESS, AutoPIPE, Caesar, GT STRUDL
  • Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through the successful completion of a university degree in an appropriate field and a period of typically 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Following all legislative requirements under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and any other regulating legislative body.
  • Prior experience in piping analysis in the Oil and Gas or Nuclear Power Generation Industries is advantage.
