Senior Transformer Design Engineer

What you will be doing:You will lead the advancement of dry-type LV transformer technologies up to 2MVA with an emphasis on:Improving system efficiency and reducing lifecycle energy lossesDesigning with sustainable materials and lower environmental footprintStandardizing platforms to reduce waste and optimize manufacturingSupporting electrification projects across renewable, industrial, commercial and clean-tech sectorsEnhancing safety and reliability for mission-critical clean-power applicationsImplementing smart design rules and digital configuration for rapid deploymentReducing quote-to-manufacture cycles to accelerate renewable projects globallyYou will collaborate directly with cross-functional engineering, operations, and commercial teams to ensure product designs align with customer sustainability objectives and global ESG commitments.What you must have:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering (P.Eng or eligibility preferred)5+ years experience designing power or distribution transformers; deep knowledge of air-cooled dry-type systemsExpert understanding of magnetics and design-for-manufacture principlesStrong grasp of certification and compliance standards (UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA, CE)Practical experience in R&D or product development in a factory environmentAptitude for implementing design improvements that reduce cost, weight, and energy lossExperience with power electronics, harmonics, or phase-shift configurations an assetAdvanced software and drafting skills (OPS or comparable design suite, AutoCAD, data tools)Passion for sustainable engineering, efficiency, and continuous improvement
