Role Responsibilities


Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors has an exciting opportunity for professional engineers to join the Southern Regional team The Construction and Maintenance Division is looking for a detailed oriented, highly motivated and independent individual to perform various engineering reviews, analysis, planning, design and construction functions that will affect Albertans. You will be working with a group that is committed to growing and developing the skills of all its members while delivering construction and maintenance infrastructure projects in a fast-paced environment.


Reporting to the Bridge Manager, you will coordinate and administer the design and construction of the Region’s bridge and water management projects, construction and rehabilitation program consistent with national codes and department guidelines, standards, policies, acts and technical functional requirements. You will also provide the leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, timely and fiscally responsible delivery of the projects by consultants and contractors. 


Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Ensuring regional bridge projects are coordinated, administered and delivered effectively on schedule and on budget Reviewing functional planning studies, bridge inspection and assessment reports and completing site visits to identify and determine the scope of the project Addressing public concerns and problems related to bridge activities Reviewing all engineering reports, designs, drawings and tender documents to ensure the work completed by consultants meet department guidelines, standards, policies and provide the best value. Identifying technical or operational issues that need to be addressed for future improvement Reviewing all project expenditures including consultant invoices, municipality payments, contractor progress estimates and provide recommendation for payment Developing project specific and regional strategies for programming and delivery
