Edmonton, Canada Government of Alberta Full time

Role Responsibilities

The Government of Alberta, Technical Services and Procurement Branch (TSPB) of Alberta Infrastructure is currently looking for a Building Energy Engineer to join our busy team in Edmonton. If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding opportunity, look no further and apply

TSPB provides a wide range of professional and technical support as well as expertise for the technical standards, planning, design, construction, renovation, commissioning, post-occupancy review, operation and maintenance of government owned and funded facilities, as well as partnering with research institutions and industry to develop and introduce new technology. The branch also develops and maintains project standards, tools and best practices for the ministry.

The Procurement section drives to maximize value and minimize risk for Alberta Infrastructure projects by championing leading class procurement practices and delivering strategic advice for the benefit of the Ministry, our stakeholders, and all Albertans.

Reporting to the Senior Sustainability Specialist, this position provides technical expertise to stakeholders to optimize the design for energy performance and reduced carbon emissions. This accounts for the stakeholders’ concerns and restrictions of project budgets. Lessons learned assist with the ongoing development of standards.

The main responsibilities for the Building Energy Engineer are (but not limited to):

Conduct design reviews based on the Technical Design Requirements for Alberta Infrastructure facilities.  Participate in the project development process to provide guidance on energy target goal setting for projects. Advise on the proposed upgrades to the existing facilities in Alberta Infrastructure’s portfolio. Act as a resource from the project business case, project design and facility operation. Provide input to policy drafts, briefings, position papers, background material and reports identifying important issues.
