Role Responsibilities

The Business Continuity Officer (BCO) provides business continuity, emergency planning, facility emergency response planning, and department security services and support to the ministry and the facilities it operates. 

Reporting to the Manager of Business and Operational Planning, in this role you will:

Deliver business continuity, facility emergency planning and department security services. Maintain awareness of and research trends and best practices to improve the delivery of business continuity, facility emergency planning and department security programs. Develop and facilitate approval of annual business continuity and emergency response plans. Recommend key strategies to support department planning and operations. Represent the ministry when working with internal and external stakeholders to identify and evaluate program impacts as changes to GoA programs and policies occur. Provide information, both written and verbal, to senior leadership and executive teams. 

Strong conceptual and analytical thinking, system thinking, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills will enable the incumbent to develop effective business continuity project plans and programs. Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, facilitation, and project management skills are needed to ensure success in this role.
