Responsibilities

Under the authority of Yellowknives Dene First Nation Government Chief and Council, and under the direct supervision of the Child and Youth Assistant Manager, the Academic Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, in assisting and supporting children and youths between the ages of 6 to 19 years, in areas of academic, tutoring, child and youth supports programming. This position is located in Ndilo and periodically in Dettah, Monday to Friday and may be required to work on Saturday and Sunday when required.

Qualifications

Requirement for ideal candidate for this position:

Completion of a college program in Classroom or Education Assistant, or Human Services related discipline; with a minimum of 2 years of direct related work experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training, related course work and 4 years work experience will be considered; Clean Criminal Records’ Check with Vulnerable Sector prior to hire.

Knowledge and/or experience with cultural history and customs of the Wiiliideh people and previous experience in working with First Nations organizations are all definite assets.
