Who we need

As a result of an internal promotion, we are looking for a new Counter Sales Associate to join our team. You will take and enter orders, and work closely with contractors, vendors, and our sales team to research and respond to customer requests. You will share accurate information and HVAC product knowledge, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction.

What you will do:

  • Learn . You will participate in training and coaching to build your product and industry knowledge and grow your sales skills.
  • Provide excellent customer service. You will respond to customers in person and on the phone quickly and professionally, demonstrating in-depth product and pricing knowledge. You will:
    • Organize customer orders for pick up at the counter and process returns as needed
    • Process standard and special orders, requests, issues and concerns, applying product knowledge to recommend alternatives to customers
    • Participate in pager duties and Saturday counter shifts as scheduled
    • Support outside sales staff with information regarding a customer's PO, product or pricing information as needed.
    • Keep customers are aware of order status, connecting with shipping/receiving, and purchasing to ensure on-time delivery of required product
    • Participate in counter promos, preparing showroom for counter days, monthly specials, customer appreciation BBQ days, and yearly inventory
    • Change over monthly specials, including pricing and displays
  • Increase sales. You will reach out to customers by phone to provide details on specials or products that may be of interest. You will share leads for upselling or cross-selling with the Sales and Growth team, collaborating to accomplish department and company objectives.

What you bring:

  • The experience. You have 1-2 years combined counter sales and industry experience. You have the organizational skills to balance customer facing inquiries and orders in person and on the phone, as well as manage detailed paperwork and written requests. You demonstrate an exemplary service-oriented attitude. You have critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • The motivation . You want to learn the industry, sales, and the business side of wholesale distribution. You are highly accountable for meeting your goals and objectives with minimal supervision. You can balance and prioritize competing tasks. You are comfortable learning and using technology, including our internal systems.
  • The interpersonal skills. You are extremely comfortable interacting with customers in-person or on the phone, navigating conflict, and responding to demands. You are deeply committed to customer service, can build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams. You have flexible and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • The flexibility. You can work occasional evenings and Saturdays as part of a team.
