Reporting to the Divisional Controller, the Financial Analyst is the financial champion on various automotive manufacturing programs for the program life cycle.
 

Key Responsibilities

- A thorough understanding of production processes and products

- Work in collaboration with other departments such as Engineering, Inside Sales, Purchasing, Operations and Sales

- Standard cost rate development

- Coordinate the receipt of all program costs required for quote capital, and review the latter for reasonableness

- Prepare production part costs for new programs, and maintain these costs throughout the program

- Assist to prepare costing and customer quotations and business case for all production parts, prototypes, alerts and tooling throughout the life of the program

- Review and approve all cost changes that are made to drive master files that affect program costs. Standard cost and gross margin reporting and analyses

- Member of the cross functional team (CFT) for designated programs, and responsible that all financial activities on these programs

- Maintain Cost Reduction Roadmaps including active identification and participation in continuous improvement and cost reduction activities

- Perform month-end procedures - inventory, inventory variances, journal entries, account recs, etc.

- Assist with sales forecasting on a quarterly basis

- Provide profitability analysis on a part/product/customer basis

- Provide financial analysis related to long-term agreement pricing

- Continuously improve the effectiveness of the quoting process

- Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

- Post-secondary degree/diploma in an accounting or business discipline is required

- Active involvement or achievement in an accounting designation is an asset

- Ability / capability to spend time on the production floor and understand production processes and products is required

- Possess a high level of initiative and ability to drive improvements

- Strong business acumen and sound knowledge of cost accounting and business analytical techniques

- Strong excel and computer skills is required

- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required

- The ability to work under general direction as well as showing initiative is required
