Introduction

The Department of Families is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the Bilingual Community Service Worker position at Steinbach (Eastman).
The Manitoba Government has a comprehensive benefit package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family related leave, and a defined pension plan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers).
The Community Service Delivery Division develops programs and provides services that support individuals with intellectual disability. The division manages community-based offices in partnership with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), ACCESS centres, and health and social development centres in Winnipeg. Through these offices, the public can receive services including: Children’s disability Services, Community Living disABILITY Services, Residential Care Licensing, Family Conciliation Services, Employment and Income Assistance (EIA), and Child and Family Services.
Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including the vulnerable sector search). A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle to travel for business purposes. Must provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check. Must provide a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Qualifications: Essential: Effective communication skills in both official languages, English and French. Post-secondary degree in a social sciences field (Bachelor of Social Work preferred). Case management experience in an integrated services environment that includes brief counselling, conducting assessments, service planning, service coordination, and follow-up. Other acceptable combinations of education and related experience may be considered at a commensurate classification and salary level. Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or families with children with disabilities, recognizing the challenges they face and providing supports based on their individual needs. Experience conducting risk assessments for adults with disabilities and/or families with children with disabilities, with a crisis intervention and protections lens. Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; interacts sensitively and respectfully in a non-judgmental manner with diverse stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines. Effective verbal communication skills. Effective written communication skills. Experience working independently within a multi-disciplinary team. Desired: Basic knowledge of Community Living disability Services and/or Children’s disability Services and services offered. Duties: Reporting to the Community Social Service Supervisor (CSSS), the incumbent provides case management services to individuals and/or families who are accessing services in the Children’s disABILITY Services programs and/or Community Living disABILITY Services. The incumbent works as a member of an established service delivery team and uses sound independent judgement. The incumbent uses the professional application of social work theory and methods to deliver discipline-based services and intervention strategies with individuals and families.
