The Town of Slave Lake is looking for an energetic and responsible individual to join our Aquatics team as an Assistant Lifeguard  to assist with providing surveillance over swimmer safety and provide basic patron care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform and practice safe and proper lifeguarding techniques while wearing the identified facility uniform, whistle, fanny pack and torpedoes.  Provide surveillance over swimmer safety, model and promote safe aquatic behaviours, provide positive public relations, respond to emergency situations, and provide basic patron. Play a supportive role under the Senior Lifeguard direction on the pool deck. Take part in all routine front-end customer service.  Other duties as assigned. This position requires morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend work. 

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Must be 15 Years of Age Bronze Medallion/Bronze Cross Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Planning to register and start the NL course within 8 weeks of completion of Bronze Cross OR within 8 weeks of turning 16

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Good interpersonal skills in working with co-workers and the public. Good flexibility, self-initiative, independence, and organizational skills. Proven productivity and reliability.

Occasional moderate lifting of equipment and supplies Being in and out of the pool on regular basis Exposure to heat, chlorine, other chemicals, and humidity Noise level is usually moderate May be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings
