Students will be required to cover all travel expenses to and from the location of work.

Duties

Visitor Information Centre/ Entrance Kiosk/Assistant Interpreter

Welcome visitors in person or over the phone and give them information, directions regarding facilities, services, programs, events and regulations. Record, process and collect fees, and make reimbursements. Work with a cash register, compile and record statistical data, fill out forms, sales reports and bank deposits, and use a computer system or point of sale and booking system. Support in the coordination and delivery of events and activities. Assist interpreters in preparing and delivering various interpretation programs. Cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency buildings/facilities.
Also may be requested to complete other related duties.

Training will be provided as required.

The intent of this process is to hire students for the summer at the Grand-Pré National Historic Site (Nova Scotia).

EDUCATION:

Please confirm that you meet these eligibility factors:
- registered as a full time or part-time secondary or post secondary student in an accredited academic program; or
- participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience working with the public;
- Experience in handling cash;
- Experience working in a team environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/ territorial holidays;
- Willingness to work in variable weather conditions;
- Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform/period costume and prescribed protective equipment;
- Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification;
- Possession of a valid Driver's license.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- Reliability Status security clearance;
- Parks Canada prohibits smoking or vaping in the workplace.
