Northern Primary Care Nurse

Introduction
The Department of Health, Seniors and Long-term Care is currently hiring three Primary Care Nurses for the Northern Nursing Station serving the communities of Mosakahiken Cree Nation and Moose Lake.This position will be of interest to individuals seeking community involvement, and desiring to provide a full range of clinical treatment and public health services to individuals and families in their communities.

You may also qualify for additional education and relocation assistance from the Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund.
The department currently offers accommodations including rent, major appliances, utilities (hydro, local phone, internet, water and waste service), and a vehicle for after hour calls.

Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada R.N., B.N. or M.N. with an active College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) registration. Nurses licensed to practice nursing in other Canadian jurisdictions must be eligible for licensure in Manitoba CPR – HCP Certification Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check Must be physically capable of performing head to toe assessments on patients of all ages Must be physically capable of performing CPR, lifting up to 15kgs, bending and leaning over Must be available to work schedules, which include evenings and weekends on an on-call basis Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 (F) Manitoba Drivers License Qualifications: Essential: Experience working in both acute care nursing and primary care, including emergency room and obstetrical care Ability to carry out patient care and treatment Ability to maintain accurate documentation (charting and clinical notes) in accordance with documentation standards Ability to exercise sound judgment using strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal direction/supervision Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of a team Strong verbal communication skills Strong written communication skills Strong understanding of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) Experience in using technology and software programs involving electronic charting and e-registries Desired: Previous experience in a nursing station setting Cultural awareness writhing a community health capacity Duties: The Northern Primary Care Nurse provides a full range of clinical treatment and public health services to individuals and families living in the isolated communities served by the provincial nursing stations. This position is responsible for the provision of primary care, emergency care, public health services and home visits, including: the recognition and treatment of injuries and illnesses/disease processes throughout the life span, prevention and health promotion, consulting with and referring to appropriate agencies/services and providing follow-up care for those with identified health needs, and after hour emergency on-call services.
