Duties

- Represents the Canadian Coast Guard College (CCGC) at recruitment fairs and other recruitment events and promotes the Officer Training Program (OTP) while also answering questions regarding other Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Programs and Services.
- Schedules recruitment visits with high schools and other organizations as directed by the Recruitment Officer.
- Assists in the development and facilitation of College and Regional recruitment and outreach events and tours.
- Maintains statistics on recruitment events and updates recruitment data base as required.

Work environment

The Canadian Coast Guard College is a national maritime training facility located on scenic Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Its a national college that provides training and services in French and English. It delivers programs to support the Colleges mission and mandate in marine safety, security and environmental protection.

The colleges unique and specialized training is sought after by organizations around the world. Each year, highly trained graduates join their colleagues as Coast Guard officers to provide services that are critical to Canadians.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff temporary or seasonal positions for approximately 6months (August to February).

A list of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, within the Canadian Coast Guard College in Sydney, NS.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Successful completion of Secondary School diploma or an acceptable combination of training, education, or experience.

Experience :
- Experience organizing events, activities or programs.
- Experience creating and delivering presentations to larger groups (ten or more).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:
Successful completion of a Post-Secondary School diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Experiences:
- Experience as a sea going personnel within the Federal Government.
- Experience with the Inshore Rescue boat student program.
- Experience working on committees.
- Experience with recruiting for post-secondary organizations.

Various language requirements

Knowledge :
- Knowledge of the programs and services of Canadian Coast Guard and their benefits to Canadians.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Coast Guard College and its program and activities.

Conditions of employment
