Introduction

The Asset Management Branch is responsible for operating and maintaining safe, quality and sustainable working environments and to ensure the efficient operation and good stewardship of government buildings and assets. Asset Management provides the acquisition, renewal, space inventory and monitoring of leased facilities for government and commercial real estate expertise with realty-related issues. The division also supports Manitoba’s sustainability goals through the administration and implementation of the provincial Green Building Policy, programs and guidelines. The Manitoba government is seeking highly motivated Electricians to work with the District Trades Pool at the University College of the North in The Pas, MB. Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must possess a journeyperson electrician's licence. Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with the ability to travel throughout the District.  Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting, lifting, reaching, working at heights and in confined spaces. Qualifications: Essential: Post-Secondary education, training and/or certificate in trades. Experience operating and maintaining electrical systems in a large commercial, industrial and/or institutional facility.  Experience working with Manitoba electrical legislated codes and regulations. Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health Act, and safe work procedures.  Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Building Automated Systems (BAS) or Direct Digital Control (DDC) controlled mechanical systems. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Strong organizational skills and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with tight timelines. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.  Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.  Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Similar Software Applications.  Desired: Canadian Fire Alarm Association Certificate. Duties: The Electrician is responsible to maintain, repair and install electrical equipment and related systems at the owned facilities within the District. The Electrician's primary responsibilities include maintenance of electrical equipment and systems, repair and installation of electrical equipment and systems, maintenance of life safety equipment, consultation and direction on electrical work being performed by outside contractors, and participating in safety training and meetings.
