Duties & Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mobile mining equipment (shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators) used in open-pit coal mining.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, performing field diagnosis and running repairs to ensure minimal downtime.
Conduct scheduled maintenance and regular inspections to identify and address wear, damage, or potential mechanical problems.
Utilize diagnostic tools and various hand, air, and impact tools (e.g., wrenches, drills, sledgehammers, hydraulic torque equipment) to troubleshoot and repair issues.
Operate materials handling equipment (e.g., hydraulic jacks, hoists, chains, overhead cranes, slings, ladders, man-lifts, safety harnesses, forklifts, small loaders, trucks) as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation of troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and parts usage.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Adhere to Conumas workplace policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance in all aspects of work.
Provide mentorship and guidance to colleagues and apprentices, as needed.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualification

Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is strongly preferred.
At least 3-5 years' experience repairing mobile mining equipment.
Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or a combination of work experience and industry courses in heavy equipment repair.
Experience with OEM troubleshooting guides and systems is preferred.
Experience creating parts lists from OEM web-based systems, such as Caterpillar SIS, is preferred.
Valid Drivers License, with experience operating vehicles in mining or heavy industrial environments under various weather conditions.
Proficiency working with complex electrical and hydraulic systems related to mobile equipment.

Technical Competencies & Skills

Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on either a 7x7 or 14x14 rotation.
High level of safety awareness, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.
Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Physically fit, with the ability to perform physical labour and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to complete work assignments in both shop and field settings as assigned.
Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, demonstrating adaptability to environmental challenges.
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.
High level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong teamwork skills, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across various departments.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Conuma Resources is proud to offer industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package. Hourly rates for Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians range from $55.26 to $58.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
