About the JobThis role is part of our Community Support Services team, working with members of the Francophone community living in Cambridge and surrounding areas. As a Bilingual Personal Support Worker, you will provide personal care and support to meet the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of each client.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care, including toileting, changing clothing or briefs, perineal care, occasional showering, and administer first aid as required.
- Observe, assess, and report changes in clients' health, behaviors, and activities, and complete required documentation in client records.
- Participate in client care planning and problem-solving to ensure clients can safely participate in activities.
- Supervise and/or remind participants to take medication, keep client medications safe and secure, and maintain appropriate records.
- Assist participants with physical lifts, transfers, and seating and standing as needed.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work space, and perform cleaning and disinfecting tasks as required.
- Assist participants on walks and provide direction and encouragement for clients to participate in group activities.
- Assist with food preparation, meal service, and meal assistance as necessary.
- Maintain the dignity and individuality of each client.
- High school Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Support Worker certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent education and training.
- Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED certification.
- Bilingual in English and French, including verbal, written, and comprehension.
- One to two years of experience assisting the elderly and/or adults with disabilities.
- Able to perform the physical demands associated with this position.
