Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at LifeLabs. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in the testing and diagnostic process for a wide range of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unpack and sort incoming specimens from various sources, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Verify patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, resolving any discrepancies or inaccuracies prior to testing.
  • Prepare, sort, and separate specimens for technical analysis, adhering to strict laboratory protocols.
  • Respond to client inquiries and collaborate with the logistics department to ensure seamless operations.
  • Train and orient new team members, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and excellence.
  • Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct all work in compliance with laboratory safety and security policies and regulations, prioritizing patient confidentiality and data protection.
Requirements
  • Successful completion or graduation from a recognized Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) program is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks, and multitasking with ease.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills, with proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, staying current with company practices, training, policies, and procedures.
  • Prior experience in laboratory operations or medical terminology is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external departments.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
