About the Opportunity

Aecon is seeking a Materials Manager to join the GO Rail Expansion (RER) project in the Greater Toronto Area. This transformational project is the largest capital infrastructure project in Ontario's historic GO Rail Expansion program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a railway materials procurement and management plan.
  • Identify supply capacity of the railway materials market and establish strong partnerships with key material suppliers.
  • Coordinate relations between different ONxpress departments and suppliers, including conflict resolution and planning.
  • Establish and attend frequent meetings with suppliers.
  • Support other departments, including Planning, Cost control, Estimating, Scheduling, Design/technical office, HS, QA/QC.
  • Act as the interface between the Procurement and Construction teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop processes for ensuring materials are secured and received in accordance with client requirements.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of personnel to ensure on-time delivery at minimum cost of labor and materials.
  • Manage brokerage, customs, duties, and logistics supply chain.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience working in Metrolinx and Class I railroads' environments in similar roles or equivalent.
  • Availability to work in Toronto, Canada, long-term.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English both spoken and written, in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to different environments and shifting priorities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different shifts.

Valued Experience

  • Engineering or construction management degree.
  • Demonstrated contract and financial management experience.
  • Consultancy experience in railway projects.
  • Design experience in railway projects.
  • European English Certificate level C1-C2 (CEFR) or equivalent.
  • Management training.
  • Experience working in Metrolinx and Class I railroads environments.
  • Knowledge in BIM and collaborative procedures.
