The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a skilled and experienced Facility Services Worker to join our team. As a key member of our recreation facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our indoor and outdoor facilities, including ice installation, pool maintenance, and equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities- Facility Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, adjust, and operate a variety of equipment, including ice-making, resurfacing, and refrigeration equipment.
- Building Repair and Maintenance: Perform semi-skilled building and equipment repair and maintenance tasks, including painting, basic plumbing, replacing arena glass, basic carpentry, and other related functions.
- Pool Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, adjust, and operate a pool filtration system, including activities such as backwashing of pool filters.
- Equipment Operation: Operate equipment in building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC), lighting, and electrical and plumbing systems, and monitor the operation of a variety of pumps and filters and log results.
- Education: High school graduation or equivalent (GED).
- Experience: Two (2) years full-time equivalent experience in ice making, pool maintenance, building maintenance.
- Certifications: BCRPA Pool Operator Level 1 and 2, or equivalent training recognized by other provincial bodies; 5th Class Power Engineer's Refrigeration Certificate of Competency; Building Service Worker Certificate (approved minimum 16-hour course).
- License: Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
- Certification: Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification.
- Competitive Compensation: An hourly starting wage of $35.58 (2024 rate of pay).
