Job Title: Child Protection Social Worker Assistant

This job posting is for a Child Protection Social Worker Assistant position at Family and Children Services Regional branch, with a 12-month eligibility list for future similar vacancies.

About the Role

The Child Protection Social Worker Assistant will support and assist Child Protection Regional Social Workers in providing services to children, youth, and families under the Child and Family Services Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support with day-to-day administrative and financial tasks
  • Assist with delivering services related to child welfare matters
  • Make referrals for support services for families
  • Coordinate, schedule, or arrange case conferences
  • Assist with general case management

Requirements
  • Diploma/certification in post-secondary human services program or relevant course work
  • Experience working with First Nations (preferably Yukon First Nations) will be an asset
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families
  • Administrative experience (i.e. note taking, managing and maintaining confidential documentation)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and/or other administrative software

  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize workload
  • Ability to provide excellent client services
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and crisis management
  • Ability to work collaboratively and within a diverse team
Conditions of Employment
  • Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearance
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Verification of post-secondary diplomas, certifications, courses and/or degrees
Job Requirements
  • Willingness to travel within the Territory on an occasional basis with limited notice
  • Work with families and children for the purpose of visit supervision
  • Work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays
  • Complete a six-month training plan that will consist of but not limited to HIMPA, ATIPPA, WHIMIS, FCM case management training
