Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at Viking. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and reviewing automatic fire sprinkler systems to ensure they meet our clients' expectations and provide the highest level of security for their fire systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and review fire protection systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and HydraCAD software;
  • Prepare and review drawings considering architectural, structural, and mechanical plans;
  • Review fire protection design documents and confirm compliance with requirements;
  • Produce engineering schedules and complete site inspections;
  • Reproduce and draw sketches, drawings, and plans;
  • Arrange sprinklers on drawings in accordance with current standards;
  • Verify drawings in accordance with established procedures;
  • Participate in project meetings with project managers and other trades for project coordination;
  • Order materials based on coordinated drawings using HydraList;
  • Proceed to field surveys for installation drawings.
Requirements:
  • P.Eng or P.Tech accreditation;
  • Valid APEGA or ASET membership;
  • Stamping authority in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan;
  • 5+ years of fire protection engineering and design experience;
  • Experience applying required codes and standards;
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, FM requirements, and other fire protection methodologies;
  • Proficiency in computer-assisted design with AutoCAD;
  • Knowledge of HydraCAD (an asset);
  • Experience with BIM software, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or similar;
  • Valid driver's license and have a vehicle;
  • Knowledge of standards and codes governing design and installation of automatic fire protection systems.
