The Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development is seeking an individual to join the Crown Lands Branch, as a Leasing Officer, located in Fredericton.

As a member of the Tenure and Compliance team and reporting to the section Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal administrative support for the Leasing Program. Responsibilities of this role include preparing and reviewing legal documents, including leases, assignments, and non-disturbance agreements; preparing easements; preparing, reviewing, editing, and tracking correspondence regarding individual lease issues, and maintaining file information in the computerized property management business system. The incumbent is also responsible for liaising with private lawyers to resolve transactional issues; consulting with Regional and District staff regarding property site issues; resolving complicated legal administrative matters involving estates and land titles; administering the collection of overdue lease rental and property tax payments; and providing prompt and professional front-line services to clients. Other related duties may be assigned as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a one year related post-secondary diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience, including two (2) years of experience working in a legal environment; OR, a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience, including two (2) years of experience working in a legal environment. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATION(S): Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following: a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a property law environment; a diploma from a paralegal program; knowledge and experience with New Brunswick Land Registry and New Brunswick Titles transactions.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY: $47,216 to $57,330 per annum
