About the Role

Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Software Engineer to join our team. As a Mainframe Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing software applications that support our insurance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test mainframe applications using programming languages such as COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and DB2.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and users to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure consistency to coding standards and best practices.
  • Work with team members to define and implement system enhancements and optimizations.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure the availability and performance of mainframe applications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mainframe application development.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience of mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on the mainframe platform.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and collaborators.
Working Arrangements
