Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern have merged to form CPKC, a North American railway with a 20,000-mile network. The company is seeking a police officer to provide law enforcement services across its network.

The CPKC Police Service delivers police services to the CPKC network, including emergency response, special events policing, risk reduction operations, investigation and enforcement of criminal acts, crime prevention and public safety programs. This position is based out of Revelstoke but includes patrol in the Salmon Arm area.

The first-class constable's rate of pay for this position is $111,000 per year, or $53.41 per hour. In 2025, the rate will increase to $115,000 per year. This does not include overtime or callout pay.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing public safety through enforcement and education
  • Preventing and detecting crime
  • Enforcing Federal, Provincial, and municipal laws, statutes, and by-laws
  • Criminal and collision investigations
  • Emergency response to incidents and calls for service
  • Protecting Railway assets, operations, and personnel
  • Working with other Law Enforcement Agencies during investigations and in joint enforcement operations
  • Maintaining good working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Effectively and efficiently planning, managing, and prioritizing workload and conducting general and directed patrols
  • Being prepared to travel on assignments, in response to incidents, and for training within the Province of BC
  • Being prepared for 'On-Call' and 'Callout' with compensation
  • Possessing strong communication skills
  • Providing assistance to victims of crime
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and prosecution files and delivering court testimony
  • Managing and escorting prisoners
  • Ability to work shiftwork, weekends, and statutory holidays

The successful candidate must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have a High School diploma or GED
  • Have completed and passed full basic police recruit training with a recognized police service in Canada
  • Be a current, sworn police constable and be in good standing with a recognized Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, or First Nations police service
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System
  • Have knowledge of enforcement under Provincial Statutes
  • Have community involvement
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Be able to successfully complete a fitness test
  • Have a valid driver's license for the province in which they are employed
  • Be qualified in First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Meet CPKC Police Firearms and Use of Force Standards
  • Be able to complete and pass a psychological evaluation
  • Be able to complete and pass a polygraph exam
  • Not have any McNeil decisions on their personnel file
