Heavy Equipment Operator-Excavator required for a progressive Heavy Civil Construction and Mining Services Company operating in Western Canada.
MacKay Contracting Ltd. is a well-established company with a wide variety of projects.
The Heavy Equipment Operator-Excavator is a vital position to ensure the safe and accurate use of equipment.
This role will be based out of Cranbrook and typically has regularly scheduled shifts of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. start, and anywhere from 8-12 hour-days.
Responsibilities:
- Perform work in accordance with all organizational, provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation.
- Work within a team to effectively and safely operate multiple pieces of equipment.
- Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication from operators, ground personnel, and labourers.
- Perform mechanical inspections and servicing, including controls and operations, and complete logbooks.
- Recognize existing and potential hazards and identify them through conducting a field-level pre-job hazard analysis.
- Operate equipment while maintaining proper awareness of surroundings.
- Additional duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Civil Construction or equivalent experience on an excavator.
- Knowledge of construction layout/staking.
- Knowledge of operating 3D machine control is considered an asset.
- Valid government-issued photo identification.
- Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Effective verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to take and follow instructions while operating safely.
- Valid and clean Driver's Abstract.
Salary: $32-34
