Dietary Aide

Join our dynamic team at Southbridge Kemptville LTC as a Dietary Aide, where you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals.

As a Dietary Aide, you will assist with food preparation and serving, maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents. You will work closely with our Food Service Manager to ensure that our residents' dietary needs are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, maintaining proper serving temperatures.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation, including cleaning and preparing uncooked food, and following basic instructions for simple food preparation.
  • Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils.
  • Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
  • Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environmental safety, and infection control.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
  • Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Previous dietary experience in a long-term care home is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read and write English and understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
