Medical Laboratory Technologist I position available at Labrador Health Centre, performing laboratory testing in various sections under medical direction.
**Job Summary:**
Perform diagnostic laboratory testing, operate laboratory instruments, and participate in quality improvement programs. Collaborate with the Medical Laboratory Team to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
**Responsibilities:**
- Perform diagnostic laboratory testing in accordance with accepted laboratory standards and policies.
- Operate laboratory instruments with confidence and efficiency.
- Participate in quality improvement programs by monitoring and recording control results.
- Assist in the preparation of audits and reports as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Medical Laboratory Team to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in rotational system of twenty-four hour emergency standby.
- Protect patient confidentiality and abide by Labrador-Grenfell Health policies and procedures.
**Requirements:**
- Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Science training program.
- Registration with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals.
- Experience in using Clinical Meditech Modules and Hospital Information System.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to answer questions from staff and stakeholders concerning procedures and processes.
**Working Conditions:**
- 70 hours biweekly, days, evening and weekend shifts required.
- Standby and call back duties may be required.
**Compensation:**
LX-27 of the NAPE-LX salary scales, $31.53 to $39.41 per hour.
