WSP is seeking full-time Materials Field and Laboratory Technicians for their Calgary office. This is a great opportunity for individuals aiming to advance their career and gain expertise in the engineering and construction sector. Candidates must possess a valid Alberta driver's license and provide an updated driver's abstract upon hiring.

A Peek into Your Daily Routine...

Key responsibilities involve conducting various tests on asphalt pavements, concrete, aggregates, and soils in both field and laboratory settings. This role is perfect for those who enjoy working on large-scale construction projects and being out in the field.

Expectations for this position include:

  • Oversight of construction activities such as excavations, subgrade inspection, foundation evaluations, and pile monitoring.
  • Involvement in major Alberta construction projects like the West Valley Line LRT Project and various oil sands endeavors in Fort McMurray.
  • Generating inspection reports and managing data entry tasks.
  • Adherence to WSP's Project Review, Ethics, and Safety Protocols.
  • Monitoring the construction of roads, pads, and buildings.
  • Conducting Field Concrete and Compaction testing.
  • Engaging in Lab Work including Sieve Analysis and Cylinder Breaking.
  • Perform CSA calibrations, Moisture Contents, and Asphalt testing.
  • Maintaining the laboratory's cleanliness and organization.

  • Capacity to work in laboratory and office environments.
  • Willingness to undertake light to moderate lifting tasks when needed.
