What can I expect to do in this role?
About the Job


As part of the Land Transfer Tax team you will be a senior analyst responsible for the administration of provincial Land Transfer Tax in Ontario, including corporate real estate transactions.

Every day will be a little different, but you can expect it to include activities like:

  • reviewing legal transactions such as trusts, partnerships and corporations
  • reviewing legal and corporate documents to ensure compliance and make tax, penalty and interest determinations
  • performing audits to identify non-compliance
  • communicating with solicitors and taxpayers to request documents, respond to inquiries and provide interpretations of legislation
  • maintaining and organizing your workload to meet deadlines
  • participating on projects
How do I qualify?Specialized knowledge and skills:You have:

  • experience explaining the application of legislation and encouraging voluntary compliance
  • demonstrated experience calculating tax, penalty and interest and making determinations
  • auditing skills and experience
  • critical thinking and knowledge of documents related to the conveyance of land and the ability to identify discrepancies
Analytical, research and judgement skills:
You have:

  • analytical and research skills utilizing investigative techniques to perform audits
  • ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, policies, rulings and precedents
  • proven attention to detail and accuracy
  • judgement and decision making skills
Customer service, teamwork and communication skills:

  • you have proven customer service, teamwork, and communication skills
  • you have experience providing sound advice and direction to clients and colleagues
