JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for ensuring that all stock in the warehouse is properly received and put away and ensures the warehouse is neat and clean and is free from any debris or hazards. This position is also responsible for all equipment maintenance, job set up and building maintenance activities. Additionally, this position comes wit the responsibility of being a member of our internal Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSA)

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Inventory Control Responsibilities
  • Working with Purchaser, establishes minimum quantities for stock items, and ensures appropriate reserve supply to ensure there is enough inventory to allow for continued production. Advises Purchaser to order stock when minimums are reached.
  • Receives all shipments into the warehouse ensuring that all items and quantities are verified versus the packing slip. Signs the packing slip noting any discrepancies if necessary.
  • Reviews material needed for site requests, checks inventory and advises Purchaser of material that is currently on hand and available to be used from current stock. Pulls materials and prepares them for site pick up or delivery.
  • Completes Inventory Control Sheets for all material that is going out / coming back to/from jobs. Forwards report to Purchaser for pricing.
  • Receives material returned from jobsites back into inventory. Cleans the material and restocks into the correct location in the warehouse. Completes the Inventory Return Control Sheet and forwards to Purchaser.
  • Takes physical inventory and ensures an accurate count of material on hand as directed by the Purchaser.
  1. Tool Control
  • Controls In/Out reports on all tools borrowed from inventory and used at the job site. This includes all gas, hydraulic and electrical tools. Follows up with employees and / or supervisors as required when tools are not returned.
  • Inspects tools upon return to inventory and repairs or sends out for repair as needed.
  • Informs Purchaser when tools are damaged or not repairable.
  • Maintains an inventory list of all tools and the current location.
  1. Equipment Maintenance
  • Completes daily inspections on forklift and prepares safety reports in accordance with established procedures.
  • Responsible for all equipment floats, deliveries and set up.
  • Orders propane and controls propane cage to ensure proper safety procedures are followed.
  1. Warehouse and Facilities
  • Ensures the warehouse is clean and neat and is free from debris and hazard. Disposes of all packing materials properly and ensures all aisles are passable.
  • Properly segregates all hazardous materials within the warehouse and communicates information about any hazardous materials to all that work within the area.
  • Orders miscellaneous supplies such as coffee, cups, toilet paper, cleaners, etc up to a maximum of $1, Ensures an adequate supply and re-orders as necessary.
  • Arranges for all garbage pickup, including metal/copper returns and recycling.
  • Handles the disposal of all controlled waste (i.e...Oil).
  • Reports any condo building or maintenance issues to condo maintenance personnel and follows up to ensure that the facility has been fixed.
  • Schedules maintenance and calls for maintenance on all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, etc.
  • Handles warehouse security, ensuring only authorized personnel are in the warehouse and keeping tools and equipment locked as necessary.
  1. Warehouse helpers/pre-apprentice training
  • Train pre-apprentices assigned to shop in:
    • Receiving materials
    • Making deliveries/offloading
    • Shop cleaning and maintenance
    • Tool maintenance
    • Introduction to standard electrical materials
  1. Job Set Up
  • Set up job boxes for new jobs sites and provides standard set up of materials and equipment necessary.
  • Makes deliveries / pick-ups to/from job sites as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICAITONS / SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Three to five years of experience working in a warehouse
  • Knowledge of parts and components used in electrical construction
  • Knowledge of principles of inventory control.
  • Knowledge of hazardous material segregation requirements
  • Certified in the operation of a forklift
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Skills in mathematics
  • Good planning skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to calendar items for service
  • Knowledge of basic equipment and vehicle maintenance
  • Ability to review and compare information
  • Ability to develop rapport and display good interpersonal skills
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self starter – displays initiative
  • Works well without direct supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 kilograms
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop and squat.
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Ensures appropriate material is in stock to support ongoing operations
  • Ensures materials are properly received and all discrepancies are noted
  • Ensures proper stocking and re-stocking of materials in warehouse
  • Ensures proper control of assets including tools, vehicles, and other equipment
  • Ensures proper maintenance of assets including tools, vehicles and other equipment
  • Ensures all job sites have proper materials and equipment in the job box and all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of all facilities.
