Pediatric Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our pediatric team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics, you will provide direct patient care to pediatric patients in a pediatric inpatient unit and/or select ambulatory day clinics.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients, collecting information from various sources and making nursing diagnoses to determine the best course of care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop, implement, and modify care plans, ensuring patient-centered care and promoting autonomy and dignity.
- Participate in care and discharge planning, ensuring effective care delivery and updating care plans as needed.
- Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, making referrals to the inter-professional care team as required.
- Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, assessing learning needs and providing information and demonstrations to support self-care and discharge planning.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, patient responses, outcomes, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, identifying patient care issues, collecting data, and providing input for corrective action.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- One year's recent, related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Clinical proficiency in pediatric nursing, with the ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and apply pediatric nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote person-centered care and work collaboratively with the inter-professional care team.
