About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Spiritual Health Care Practitioner in our Spiritual Care department at Deer Lodge Centre. As a member of our interprofessional health care team, you will be responsible for upholding dignity in person-centred care by seeking out, assessing and responding to the unique spiritual and religious needs of patients, families and staff in an open, compassionate and culturally safe manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct spiritual health assessments and interventions to support patients, families and staff
  • Develop and implement individualized spiritual care plans to promote holistic well-being
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional health care team to provide comprehensive care
  • Provide education and support to patients, families and staff on spiritual and religious practices
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance spiritual care services
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited Canadian university or the approved equivalent
  • Supervised clinical experience in a healthcare environment (at least 2 units of CPE is required)
  • Active member of a professional organization with a Code of Ethics
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree related to spirituality and health
  • Experience working in an interspiritual, multifaith and culturally diverse environment
  • Additional training in Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Safety, WRHA Health Ethics-Equity, Dignity Therapy, Advance Care Planning, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) conversations and palliative care
