Shared Health seeks a skilled Machinist to join their team at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Job Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled Machinist to work in a fast-paced environment, providing clinical service delivery, documentation, education, and research. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding, sheet metal, and machine shop equipment, as well as strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct clinical service delivery
  • Documentation associated with clinical service delivery
  • Education and Research
  • Safety - ongoing as part of all responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Experience in welding and sheet metal required
  • Experience in automotive repairs and adaptation preferred
  • Experience using all types of machine shop equipment required (e.g. lathes, milling machines, metal bending equipment, precision measuring tools and a variety of other machinery and hand tools required)
  • Experience in working with a large variety of materials (ABS, polyurethane, different foams, steel, aluminum, wood, etc.) required
  • Experience working with disabled persons preferred
  • Experience in assessing and solving-problems of wheelchair seating preferred

Education and Certification:

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, or equivalent
  • Certified Red Seal Machinist with a minimum of 3 Years Journeyperson Experience required
  • 2-year Manufacturing Technician Diploma or one-year Precision Metal Machining Certificate preferred
  • Welding, Fabrication, Repair, and Basic CNC Design and Programming with regards to a wide range of materials required

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-Motivated and ability to work individually or in a team environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Customer service focus with regards to patient/therapist interactions
  • Ability to work under stress, adapt to a busy environment, and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent precision machining and bench skills
  • Proficiency in word processing/email allocation (outlook, excel, word)
  • Basic knowledge of mastercam X Software to control Haas Tm-1 Mini Mill
  • Professional with regards to work, clients and coworkers
