Midland Transport, a dynamic company with over 50 years of experience in the Transportation industry, is seeking a seasoned professional to join their team as Vice President, Freight Brokerage. Based in Dieppe, New Brunswick, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead a team of dedicated professionals and drive growth and success in the industry.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and transportation, with a proven track record of leading teams and driving business growth. They will be responsible for overseeing Midland's freight brokerage and 3PL services, working closely with the Irving Group of Companies and Midland's sales team to identify new business opportunities and drive strategic growth and expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Establish the strategic direction of the Freight Brokerage division, in partnership with the Midland executive team, to drive growth and deliver on performance and financial results.
  • Team Management: Assist, coach, mentor, and lead the team to achieve goals and stretch targets, fostering a culture of excellence and performance.
  • Carrier Development: Oversee the development of a stable quality of carriers throughout North America to handle business outside the Midland fleet, building and maintaining networks and professional relationships with rail and intermodal service providers.
  • Business Development: Work closely with the IGM Corporate VP of Supply Chain and team to capture business and minimize the use of outside 3 and 4PL providers, maximizing service levels, case full, and cost reduction.
  • Service Provider Management: Meet negotiated rates and services with all Freight Brokerage service providers, ensuring compliance with Irving requirements.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the competitive landscape, including pricing, key customers, competitive issues, business in transition, and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • University degree with concentration in business, logistics, or equivalent experience.
  • CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation or equivalent.
  • 10+ years' experience leading a team of Operations, Sales, and Administrative personnel in the Freight Brokerage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, LTL, TL, Courier, and warehousing industry.
  • Superior communication skills, ability to influence, high degree of business acumen, strategic thinking, and tactical execution.
