About the Role

The enforcement of quality practices within assembly departments to ensure compliance to standards, drawings and customer specific requirements as defined in the Business Operating System manual. Focus activities on meeting and improving upon the defined business objectives pertaining to product quality/customer performance, department budgets, scrap reduction, and cost of quality reduction.

Your Responsibilities
  • Supervise the activities of quality lab technicians and quality coordinators - includes scheduling and tracking hours worked as well as absences, ensuring adequate training is provided, issuing work assignments, monitoring and reporting on performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving concerns.
  • Responsible for verifying that all testing and compliance audits are being completed per the frequencies and sample sizes outlined on the control plan with a focus on special characteristics - ensuring test schedules aligns with PPAP timing requirements.
  • Verify timely processing of tallies and DMN's by the lab technicians to enable accurate monthly PPM calculation and support quality engineering group.
  • Interfaces with Novi Engineering and IWS Product/Mfg. Engineers to pursue product quality improvements during advanced planning activities and on existing programs - makes recommendations for product design enhancements and manufacturing process changes, and follow through, including updating of lessons learned.
  • Assess manufacturing process to verify operator compliance to inspection requirements (i.e. functional and appearance) and identify improvements to enable defect prevention and variation reduction.
  • Has authority to stop production and prevent further processing of defective product including - initiates manufacturing/supplier sorts and ASRS purge activities - has authority to release product back to production.
  • Review capability analysis data of functional and build objectives outlined on the control plan and maintain summary charts - highlight issues and participate with root cause analysis.
  • Root cause concerns flagged by manufacturing and the customer and complete associated reports and corrective action plans - assist with scrap reduction initiatives.
  • Confirms timely issuance of Quality Alert Notices in response to customer concerns or internal issues, and that final product audits, efforts, static torques, build objectives are being performed as per schedule and customer requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of gauge calibration program in the assembly and foam department - conduct appropriate statistical studies on the measurement systems to analyze amount of variation resulting from measuring & test equipment (including GR&R, bias, stability and linearity).
Who we are looking for

University degree/college diploma and the successful completion of job related courses in the Quality field. Certified Quality Engineer would be given preference. A minimum of five years in the quality field in a technical capacity (suitable individual should have gained knowledge in a cross-section of industrial processes). Adept with problem solving methodologies. Good knowledge of all APQP phases and core skills including: PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and control plans. Computer literate, and a team player with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Able to work overtime and travel with little notice. Knowledge of FCA computer systems an asset (e.g. eSupplierConnect, GIMS, CQMS, 3CPR, NCT, EBSC, etc.).
