Food Service Supervisor

Oversee food service operations for patients, residents, customers, and clients, ensuring exceptional service and quality food preparation.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and coordinate work assignments for Food Service Workers, Cooks, and Dietary Clerks, maintaining staff records and evaluating employee performance.
- Review, process, and update food intake reports and food processor programs, communicating updates to relevant staff.
- Monitor staff scheduling, identify utilization issues, and participate in recruitment and selection of staff, maintaining timekeeping records and allocating relief staff as needed.
- Plan menus, develop recipes, and estimate food inventory requirements, writing and checking patient and resident menus according to diet prescriptions.
- Visit patient and resident units to resolve concerns or issues, provide routine diet instruction, and generate therapeutic patient menu calculation reports and recipe calculation reports for dietitians.
- Engage with clients, customers, and stakeholders to resolve concerns or issues, perform cashier functions, and coordinate food services and billing.
- Ensure food handling and preparation meet established practices and procedures, maintaining equipment operating and cleaning standards, and audit documents.
- Monitor and estimate food and supply requirements, making recommendations regarding budget and coordinating ordering and receiving of supplies.
- Arrange for equipment maintenance and repair, completing work orders and making recommendations for purchase or replacement.
- Communicate and interpret regulations and standards to staff, ensuring compliance with Worksafe BC and maintaining records of current Material Safety Data sheets.
- Participate in Quality Improvement by conducting audits and satisfaction surveys, providing feedback, and making recommendations for improvements.
- Perform various food services administrative duties, including compiling statistics, creating spreadsheets, and maintaining records and files.
- Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to supervise, organize work, and operate related equipment.
