Mainland is hiring We are looking for a skilled Labourer to join our Shoring team.

The Mainland Group of Companies, is a multidisciplinary construction service provider specializing in all civil works, excavation, shoring and energy works such as site services, residential subdivisions, roads, highways, bridges, natural gas pipelines, commercial site development and large industrial infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

The Shoring Labourer is responsible for ensuring that the sites are well organized, clean, tidy and that the crews have everything they need to get the job done.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work safely in a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings
  • Responsible for the general maintenance and support of the shoring sites
  • Loading and unloading material and equipment
  • Help maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues
  • Keeping a positive safety attitude and ensuring hazards are eliminated
  • Maintain quality results of work

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset

  • Previous construction experience
  • Shoring experience a definite asset
  • A positive attitude and a strong team mentality - willingness to learn and support the crews where needed
  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset
  • Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals
  • Understand safety and how to communicate safety issues as they arise
  • Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all of shift standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
  • Flexible with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed
  • Willingness to learn and have a good work ethic
  • Support other crew members on daily site activities outside of job scope
