Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical

A vital role of a Project Manager within the Devices business at Canonical. In this position, you will be in charge of overseeing large, intricate customer-facing projects, managing all project aspects, and serving as the primary liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and its customers.

This role entails managing projects related to the delivery of Ubuntu images across a diverse range of devices, from robots and edge gateways to IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. A prominent project management position that requires establishing and maintaining effective relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors, and other departments within Canonical.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects throughout their entire life cycle, ensuring that both Canonical's and client's objectives are achieved
  • Deliver professional engineering services for assigned projects
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery to customers
  • Aid in creating project statements of work and maintaining project-specific schedules
  • Manage project risks and drive technical issues towards successful delivery outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate third-party deliverables and keep management updated on project statuses
  • Identify and advocate appropriate technologies to customers from Canonical's product portfolio
  • Support various time zones and unconventional working hours as needed for projects
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated project management experience in delivering engineering services to clients and managing software development teams
  • Proven success in managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent resources
  • Preferably hold a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
  • Proficiency in Linux, Open Source Software, and computer architecture
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
  • PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours in support of a global sales and project team
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for internal events
