Job Title: Assistant Mine Blaster - Skilled Labourer

Location: Ontario, Canada

Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

Accommodation: Camp provided

Travel: Provided from Sudbury, Ontario, or Timmins

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Mine Blaster to join our team in Ontario. This role is crucial for supporting blasting operations in a mining environment. The position offers a rotational work schedule, with 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in planning and preparing for blasting activities, under the guidance of experienced Mine Blasters.
  2. Help in handling, transporting, and storing explosives and detonating equipment, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  3. Work closely with the mining team to learn and assist in designing blast patterns and sequences for effective rock fragmentation.
  4. Conduct pre-blast checks under supervision, ensuring safety and readiness of the blast area.
  5. Assist in monitoring blast-induced vibrations and air overpressure, following environmental guidelines.
  6. Maintain accurate records of blasting activities, including material consumption and blast outcomes.
  7. Engage in regular safety meetings and training sessions to develop expertise in blasting operations and safety protocols.
  8. Cooperate with the team to ensure smooth and efficient mining operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience or strong interest in the mining industry, particularly in blasting operations.
  • Willingness to obtain a Blasting Certificate or equivalent certification (if not already possessed).
  • Basic understanding of mining safety regulations and best practices.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks in various environmental conditions.
