Health Care Aide role requires assisting residents with daily living activities, maintaining documentation, and performing nursing procedures as directed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Directing and assisting residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and oral hygiene.
  • Completing documentation for daily living activities.
  • Lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents using proper equipment and technique.
  • Reporting changes to resident care plans as necessary.
  • Conducting pre-handling assessments prior to lifts, transfers, and ambulation of residents.
  • Performing and recording routine nursing procedures as directed by the on-duty nurse.

Requirements include:

  • Provincial registration with the BC Care Aide Registry.
  • Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Nursing program or completion of a recognized Dementia Care program.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice to have qualifications include:

  • Gerontological experience.
  • Maintenance of First Aid and CPR "A" certification.
