We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Information & Communication Technology team as a Geomatics Consultant. This position acts as a corporate resource, providing operational GIS (Geographic Information Systems), application development, and remote sensing support and consulting services, and participating in projects to add to the Yukon Government's base of spatial data and applications. Operational GIS support includes providing technical advice or solving technical problems, providing guidance on data standards, data modeling, mapping, and helping clients to find the spatial data and maps they need.

The incumbent will consult with departmental managers and users to understand their business requirements and will work with other Geomatics Yukon staff and consultants to develop plans to apply geomatics technology and methods to successfully meet those requirements. The high-performance Geomatics Yukon team is responsible for the important role of providing the central data infrastructure that enables spatial data use across the government.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet each of the following qualifications. Please note, selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Bachelor degree in geography, GIS, computer science, information technology, or a related field, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) course work
  • A GIS diploma or certificate would be desired
  • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and Pro software
  • Experience creating data and applications in ArcGIS Enterprise platform, including ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience managing, coordinating and supporting spatial data resources
  • Experience analyzing business requirements and developing data models for spatial data
  • Experience in raster data management, including satellite imagery, elevation, and LiDAR would be considered an asset
  • Experience in writing scripts, preference with Python in ArcGIS and FME would be considered an asset

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
