The Public Service Commission, Government of Nova Scotia, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Fire Marshal to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the public and preventing fires in buildings and premises across the province.
Key Responsibilities- Stakeholder Support: Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders, including building owners, occupants, and professionals, on fire safety regulations and standards.
- Inspections and Compliance: Conduct thorough fire and life safety inspections to ensure compliance with minimum fire and life safety measures.
- Fire Investigations: Conduct investigations into fires, particularly those involving fatalities or injuries, to determine the cause, origin, and circumstances of fires.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver training and educational materials to enhance awareness and preparedness on fire safety and prevention.
- Certified Fire Inspector: Must be a certified fire inspector with a strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards.
- Experience: At least eight (8) years of work-related experience in fire enforcement, building investigations/inspections, and fire prevention, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, diplomacy, and sound judgment in assessing existing conditions and making recommendations for fire protection principles.
