Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Patient Care Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and physicians
  • Execute on the organization's strategic objectives related to clinic operations and patient care
  • Initiate forms, create billings, and collect payment for uninsured services
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare patients for physician consultations
  • Set up and assist with minor surgical procedures, pelvic examinations, and IUD insertions
  • Perform diagnostic testing as ordered by the physician, including urinalysis, simple blood glucose testing, and pregnancy testing
  • Perform a variety of care interventions and medical procedures as permitted by the physician, within the designated scope of practice
  • Aware of the organization's core purpose and core values and perform to these Core Values on an ongoing basis
  • Accurately chart any medical procedures or interventions performed in the patient chart
  • Follow standards of cleanliness and safety
  • Schedule and notify patients of appointments
  • Scan patient documents as required
  • Open mail, receive faxes, and distribute appropriately
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly chore lists
  • Participate in the training and orientation of new medical staff and students
  • Understand physician profiles and execute on requests to properly support physicians
  • Actively participate in company initiatives
Requirements:
  • A two-year diploma from an accredited institution
  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience
  • Experience with Med Access software is preferred
  • Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent clinical, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with the Health Information Act guidelines
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel
  • CPR and immunization

Working Environment:
