The District of Sooke has a permanent employment opportunity for a Lead Engineering Technologist. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering and Infrastructure, the Lead Engineering Technologist is accountable for ensuring work is performed and processes are executed for the District of Sooke (District) following sound engineering principles and standards. The main responsibilities of this role involve overseeing and managing the processing and reviewing of development applications within the District. This includes supervising employees and contractors, handling contract tendering, coordinating work activities with public and private utilities, developers, and maintaining regular communication with community representatives, elected officials, and the public. Substantial autonomy and initiative are necessary across all aspects of the work. After an initial adjustment period, the current and new Lead Engineering Technologists will have the opportunity to alternate roles or share responsibilities, fostering a flexible leadership structure for the team.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have the following qualifications:A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.Required to attain and uphold registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) in BC.Minimum of 7 years of relevant job experience, including 5 years in a supervisory capacity and 5 years within a municipal setting.An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.Satisfactory Police Information Check.
Additional consideration may be given to applicants with the following qualifications:Degree in Civil Engineering with an EIT designation in conjunction with Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.MMCD Contract Administration courseRelated experience in local government.
