We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our Radiation Oncology team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our unit.
Key Responsibilities- Transcription and Coordination: Transcribe and process clinician orders, complete and forward requisitions for tests or services, and schedule appointments using the electronic health record system.
- Patient Coordination: Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinate interrelated appointments, and prepare related instructions for patients.
- Reception and Communication: Perform receptionist duties, greet and register patients, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries.
- Team Support: Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrate work procedures, and answer related queries.
- Education and Experience: Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, physical ability to carry out duties, ability to keyboard 40 w.p.m., and ability to organize work.
- Knowledge and Commitment: Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities, and commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
