Plumber/Steamfitter Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Plumber/Steamfitter to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. As a key member of our Real Property Planning and Management Branch, you will be responsible for maintaining, installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing a wide range of plumbing, steam, heating, and cooling systems.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and repair plumbing, steam, condensate, heating, and ventilation systems, including steam traps, expansion joints, PRV's, converters, heat exchangers, condensate receivers, and pumps.
- Conduct daily facility walkthroughs for inspection and condition monitoring of equipment and all building systems.
- Work with subcontractors and vendors on equipment repair and preventive maintenance programs as required.
- Maintain all work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Comply with and apply all OHSE and other federal, provincial, and municipal laws, codes, and regulations.
- Secondary School Diploma according to provincial standards.
- Licensed Steamfitter 307A or an equivalent inter-provincial Red Seal Journeymen's Certificate of Qualification.
- Significant experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plumbing, steam, condensate, heating, and ventilation systems.
- Basic experience providing estimates for materials and repair work of pipe systems.
- Significant experience conducting daily facility walkthroughs for inspection and condition monitoring of equipment and all building systems.
- Basic experience working with subcontractors and vendors on equipment repair and preventive maintenance programs as required.
- Experience maintaining all work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Basic experience complying and applying all OHSE and other federal, provincial, and municipal laws, codes, and regulations.
The successful candidate must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if requested. They must also work on-call on rotation and be able to respond and be on site within the space of an hour.
Language RequirementsEnglish is the primary language of work. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively in English.
