Join Our Team The City of Vancouver is seeking qualified individuals to join our team of Building Workers. As a Building Worker, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our civic buildings and public spaces.
About the Role As a Building Worker, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including:
- Janitorial duties, such as cleaning floors, windows, and washrooms
- Minor maintenance repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets and replacing light bulbs
- Operating heavy cleaning equipment, such as floor strippers and carpet cleaners
Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Completion of a recognized certification program in building services work
- Experience performing routine manual tasks in care, cleaning, and general maintenance of buildings
- Knowledge of materials, methods, safety practices, and simple equipment used in janitorial and maintenance work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good health and strength sufficient to perform routine manual tasks
