Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Chilliwack General Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing patient care services related to respiratory therapy, including diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Patient Care Services: Perform diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups as related to respiratory therapy, including assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and initiating/maintaining mechanical ventilation support of adults, children, and infants.
- Operate and Maintain Equipment: Set up, calibrate, monitor, and maintain equipment such as ventilators, respiratory monitors, and medical gas administration devices.
- Monitor and Assess Patients: Monitor and assess patients' respiratory parameters, measure and calculate data such as A-gradients, and chart results as part of the medical record.
- Provide Test Data and Treatment Information: Provide test data and treatment information for interpretation by medical staff, and make recommendations for the technical application of respiratory therapy.
- Administer Therapeutic Treatments: Administer therapeutic treatments, such as aerosol, humidity, and medical gas therapy, as directed by physician's order.
- Perform Pulmonary Function Testing: Perform pulmonary function testing, such as spirometry, pre- and post-bronchial dilation spirometry, and related quality control tests for inpatients and outpatients as assigned.
- Participate in In-Service Educational Programs: Participate in and provide various in-service educational programs on the use of respiratory equipment for hospital staff as assigned.
- Perform Other Related Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) credentialing exam.
- One year's recent, related experience in an acute care setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Level C and current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
